Mage Pre-Raid Gear Guide for Vanilla WoW

Here you can find a list of pre-raid gear for your Mage for World of Warcraft Classic. For the slots with only a single option it’s because that piece is by far the best option for that slot. For example the Bloodvine set is BiS until AQ40. When there is two options or more, I put multiple options because they are, for the most part, equal and interchangeable depending on your personal preference and luck in dungeons. For some I also provided a second option because said piece drops from a boss no one ever does / wants to do.

Gloves / Hands

• Sorcerer’s Gloves – Received from the tier .5 quest chain.

Belt / Waist

• Ban’thok Sash – Drops from Arena in BRD. Ogre boss, Ok’thor the Breaker.

Legs

• Bloodvine Leggings – Crafted by tailors with sufficient ZG rep.

Boots / Feet

• Bloodvine Boots – Crafted by tailors with sufficient ZG rep.

Rings

• Don Mauricio’s Band of Domination – Drops from Darkmaster Gandling in Scholo.
• Frigid Ring – World drop most common from level 60 instances. BoE.

Trinkets

• Briarwood Reed – Drops from Jed Runewatcher in UBRS.
• Eye of the Beast
  • Horde – Ony attunment reward.
  • Alliance – Quest reward from Letter dropped by Overlord Wyrmthalak in LBRS.
• Burst of Knowledge – Drops from Ambassador Flamelash in BRD. More of a healer ring so don’t expect you taking it over a healer to be kindly received.

Head / Hat

• Spellweaver’s Turban – Drops from General Drakkisath in UBRS.

Neck

• Diana’s Pearl Necklace – Drops from Cannon Master Willey in Strat Live.

Shoulders

• Thuzadin Mantle – Drops from Baron Rivendare in Strathome Undead.
• Boreal Mantle – Drops from Wader Stilgiss in BRD.
• Burial Shawl – Drops from various bosses in Scholo.

Cloak / Back

• Deep Woodlands Cloak – Level 50 elite quest in The Hinterlands named Wanted: Vile Priestess Hex and Her Minions.

Chest

• Bloodvine Vest – Crafted by tailors with sufficient ZG rep.
• Robe of the Archmage – Crafted with tailoring and BoP.

Wrists / Bracers

• Sublime Wristguards – Drops from Guard Slip’kik and Guard Mol’dar in DM North.

Weapons

• 2 Handed
  • Rod of the Ogre Magi – Drops from chest at the end of DM North Tribute.
• 1 Handed
  • Witchblade – Drops from Darkmaster Gandling in Scholo.
• Offhand
  • Tome of the Lost – Drops from General Drakkisath in UBRS.

Wand / Ranged

• Bonecreeper Stylus – Drops from Darkmaster Gandling in Scholo.
• Ritssyn’s Wand of Bad Mojo – Drops from Baron Rivendare in Strat Undead.
